A series of paintings "Nature is a workshop and a timeless piece of art"

This series of works is dedicated to nature, the most resourceful and powerful artist ever existed. For thousands of years, it created starfalls and mountain ranges, grew virgin forests and filled rivers. Trees are its living moving sculptures, sea coasts are intricate lines of demarcation of elements. I painted real landscapes I personally visited and places where I saw everything with my own eyes.

With this series, I try to pay tribute to nature, to show how much I admire it, and how grateful I am to it. By recreating various episodes of the daytime and landscapes from the slime, I also contribute in some way to humanity's understanding of its detrimental effects on the environment. I want people to learn to see and empathise, respect and discern; not just mindlessly harm nature.

First, I took photos of landscapes and then accurately recalled my feelings from what I saw. Photos are needed because the picture is being created for a few weeks. Then, I recreated landscapes by applying slime paint on a canvas with a bas-relief spiral resembling a mountain. The colours of the landscapes are authentic, and the shape is abstract, which helps the observer to touch the picture on an imaginary level.

'Bakota. The place of power. Flooded village under the water'

Polyptych, 80 x 280 x 4,5 сm

bas-relief, slime on canvas

Flooded village is located in an extremely picturesque place called Bakota, Podilsky Tovtry, Khmelnytsky region. Bakota was once a large, strong border village, but its history ended in 1981, when the village was completely flooded during the construction of a hydroelectric power plant. Now there is a wide and deep river Dniester, 42 meters deep. There in the rocks is one of the oldest monasteries "Rock Monastery". This place is called the place of power, and indeed, having been there you feel that you are on top of the world and full of energy. There are no routes or buses in Bakota, you can only get there by your own transport on a difficult road. In the artwork I depicted the river Dniester under which is the past village, the nature that surrounds this beautiful place, here you feel alone with nature. I wanted to convey the grandeur, the power of the water element, this picture radiates power and makes the viewer think about how strong nature is and we must protect it.

'The poisonous beauty'

Triptych, 180 x 80 x 4,5 сm

bas-relief, slime, acryl on canvas

Why poisonous beauty? Because it's hogweeds, a very poisonous plant. Charming sunset in the village in Chernivetska oblast in Ukraine emphasizes the poisonous beauty of flora. The village is surrounded by green hills, fields, and animals.

'Seagulls on the Black sea coastland. Silver sunset'

Diagonal diptych, 107 x 162 x 4,5 cm

bas-relief, slime on canvas, 2020

The Black Sea in the warm month of November 2020. The beach of Arcadia in Odesa city at the moment when the sun goes down and creates a unique silver effect. The local people walking every day near the beach and feed the seagulls which fly around the sea and people to catch food. For locals, it’s everyday routine but I see the sea so rarely and I was fascinated by this scene and depicted my impressions on this canvas.

bas-relief, slime on canvas

If you go up 192 steps on the Potemkin Stairs, you will get to the Marine Station in Odessa. This is a very large trading station, hundreds of ships sail here every day. The picture shows a seascape with ships glistening in the sun, the movement and dynamics of small ships and the slowness of large cargo ships.
